Online Workshops
While we are unable to run physical workshops and our accredited training programme is postponed, we are holding a summer series for those interested in exploring more about the work of the Intimacy Director/Coordinator.

The Intimacy Sessions
Intimacy on Set is thrilled to announce The Intimacy Sessions, a unique series of weekly online sessions for those interested in learning more about Intimacy Direction/Coordination for Theatre, Film and Television. Delivered via Zoom, the sessions will feature a mix of presentation, discussion and practical examples.

The opening sessions on 27th and 28th of July form an introduction to Intimacy Direction for Theatre and Intimacy Coordination for Film and Television and in subsequent weeks throughout August we go on to explore how working with intimacy applies to the specific roles of Actor, Director, Producer, Agent and Casting Director. Open to all disciplines, these sessions offer detailed and practical insights into how each practitioner works with intimacy within a safe and creative environment.

During the sessions we will cover:
  • The role of Intimacy Director/Coordinator, outlining what it entails and how the Intimacy Director/Coordination creates safe working environments.
  • The implementation of the Intimacy on Set Guidelines, exploring the ethics of working with intimacy, from the auditioning process, rehearsals, through to performance on set and on stage.
  • How to create a safe environment through the use of a closed rehearsal room/set.
  • The importance of table work, exploring the text to enable the actor to serve character within the intimate content.
  • Key insights into how to approach intimacy, simulated sex scenes and nudity for Theatre, Film and Television.
Participants can choose to attend one or all of the sessions but we recommend that all attend the opening session in either Theatre or Film and TV as they provide a comprehensive introduction to the work.

In all sessions we will reference the coronavirus advice from industry bodies, including the BFI, BECTU, British Film Commission and Directors UK.

Note that these sessions are not part of the Intimacy on Set training programme, which we hope will resume early in 2021.
