Adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ incendiary 1782 novel set in pre-Revolutionary France. The story reveals the early years of rivals and lovers, Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont as they navigate the increasingly complex layers of society in the treacherous days leading up to the Revolution. A pair of scheming ex-lovers attempt to exploit others by using the power of seduction.
